Frozen beverages are all the rage this summer, with coffee shops, fast-food chains and quick-service restaurants getting uber creative in efforts to be the destination for consumers seeking out a little luxury when temperatures rise. Higher-end establishments may refer to these offerings as drinkable desserts, while others use descriptors such as icy, latte and shake. Whatever they are called, consumers are drinking them up and ready-to-drink beverage manufacturers will want to explore such concepts to play in this “little treat culture,” which was made popular by Gen Z and millennials on social media. It’s an act of post-pandemic self-care and a way to cope with life’s challenges.
Convenience store 7-Eleven is ushering in summer with the limited-edition Peach Candy Lemonade Slurpee drink. The new flavor was inspired by the fan-favorite 7-Select Gummi Peach Rings–a soft, chewy candy of tangy, peach delight–and blends the sweetness of peach with the tartness of lemonade to make the perfect frozen treat.
