  • IVS meets the industrial valve industry in live streaming on 26th and 27th May 2021, to discuss digitalisation, sustainability, additive manufacturing, and the challenges the sector is facing.

Ahead of a historic and eagerly awaited edition of IVS – Industrial Valve Summit, Confindustria Bergamo and Ente Fiera Promoberg, the organisers, are launching IVS WARM-UP On-line Technical Conference, a two-day event dedicated to meetings and technical and scientific conferences that will be held online on 26 and 27 May. The dates have a symbolic meaning, as they coincide with the days that had been chosen to host the fourth edition of IVS before the summit was postponed to 25 and 26 May 2022 because of the global epidemiological situation. The conference cycles will be organised by ValveCampus, the think tank of the Italian valve industry that has always been the scientific key partner of IVS.

The event will be an opportunity to present and develop the most innovative contents among the documents submitted to the Call for Papers ahead of the fourth edition of IVS. Among the key topics of IVS WARM-UP are digitalisation, sustainability of production processes and additive manufacturing. These are highly topical issues for which the industry has shown sensitivity and interest. The contents will be resumed at the technical-scientific conferences of IVS 2022, for which the organisers will be launching a new Call for Papers that will become part of an online platform of shared knowledge with free and ongoing access, to relaunch the concept of lifelong learning and innovation.

The scientific discussion will cover actuators, control technologies within smart technologies and fugitive emissions abatement applied to seals. Developments and perspectives in safety valve design, manufacturing processes, coatings and anti-corrosion technologies will also be examined. Special emphasis will be placed on innovation, combined with recently adopted technologies and with a research into the use of new materials. The conferences will focus on international standardization besides the management and the review of technical documentation. Attention will also be paid to the latest testing practices and remote inspection technologies.

The programme includes fourteen technical and scientific lectures divided into four thematic sessions that will be presented in English. The conferences will be broadcasted on the IVS website and it will be possible to ask questions to the speakers at the end of their speech. The programme will end with a panel discussion that will deal with the impact of the pandemic on the industrial valves and the energy sector. The event will present and discuss the state of the art of the global supply chain and will analyse future scenarios and challenges facing the valve industry.

The Organisers are betting on IVS 2022 as a relaunch edition for the sector after a turbulent two-year period, as well as for the economic system of the city of Bergamo. The aim is to continue the growth path of the exhibition as witnessed by the increasing number of visitors, exhibitors, and traffic on communication channels. The third edition of the summit attracted over 250 companies and about 11,000 visitors to Bergamo, numbers 36% higher than the 8,000 registered in the 2017 edition and tripled compared to the 3,500 registered in 2015. Access to the fair’s website quadrupled in the months leading up to the exhibition, moving from 70,000 in 2017 to 300,000 in 2019.
